Meet Dr. Armando Davila
Dr. Davila is a fellowship trained, bilingual plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breast, and body. Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, he attended the University of Florida, graduating Summa Cum Laude in Biological Engineering. He then completed his medical studies at the prestigious Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he spent a year as a dedicated research fellow to Dr. John YS Kim, a nationally recognized leader in plastic surgery. This time propelled Dr. Davila to the forefront of his peers, as he authored several landmark publications in the early use of acellular dermal matrices for breast reconstruction, now a standard practice for plastic surgeons around the globe.
Afterwards, he continued his training in sunny California, at Loma Linda University Health. Located in the only “Blue Zone” in the United States, the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was the first ever Integrated Plastic Surgery Training Program in the country, providing its residents with years more hands-on experience in plastic surgery than traditional models. Ever pursuing more knowledge, Dr. Davila was then accepted to the Inaugural Fellowship in Complex Breast, Microsurgical, and Robotic Reconstruction at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Medicine.
Here he trained with Dr. Richard Baynosa, a pioneer in Minimally Invasive Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, learning cutting edge robotic and microsurgical techniques. Following in the footsteps of Dr. Hurwitz, Dr. Davila has remained an avid researcher, authoring over two dozen scientific publications and academic presentations over his decade in Plastic Surgery. This has provided Dr. Davila with a comprehensive understanding of the diverse techniques available to plastic surgeons to solve even the most difficult of aesthetic or reconstructive concerns.
Shortly after moving to Pittsburgh and joining Dr. Dennis Hurwitz, Dr. Davila became Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine to continue to foster and educate the next generation of plastic surgeons. As the new owner of The Pittsburgh Center for Plastic Surgery, his unique experience is a welcome addition to the Pittsburgh community as one of the youngest private practice owners in the city. Patients will enjoy the warmth and detailed enthusiasm of a bright and highly motivated young surgeon who was named one of America's Best Plastic Surgeons by Newsweek magazine three years in a row, in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Dr. Davila is accompanied by his wife, Dr. Allison Davila, celebrating over a decade together as both surgical colleagues and partners. Also a lifelong learner, she is a talented cardiac surgeon, specializing in neonatal/pediatric heart surgery, but together they still find time to enjoy the theater, skiing, and scuba diving. These two highly sought-after, gifted surgeons are delighted with their selection of Pittsburgh to practice their special crafts for many years, and Dr. Davila looks forward to providing cutting edge and personalized care to all his patients.
